The Wesley Foundation Ministries Vision is to be an inclusive Christian community that lives God’s vision for peace and justice for the world.

 Wesley Foundation Ministries teaches the love of God known in Jesus and experienced in our lives through the Holy Spirit.  It encourages people to experience the fullness of compassion, love, justice, wellness, repentance, grace and responsible living.

Mission

Wesley Foundation Ministries—SDSU is a campus Christian faith community that advocates for the poor;

liberates from oppression;

heals from addiction, trauma and violence;

develops Christian leaders;

and builds inter-religious understanding.

Purpose

To provide progressive Christian leadership for compassionate living.

Projects

1.  To build a new campus ministry center in The Wesley, to be home for visionary new programs.

2.  To develop programs that mentor and challenge students to grow in compassion and spiritual stature.

The need for campus ministries

Students are spiritually hungry and often stressed and traumatized.

Young adults seek connections and relationships.

Students seek authenticity and values that can guide their worldview.

College years are a formative time when young adults make

choices and commitments that shape the rest of their lives,

the culture, environment, and world.

Wesley Foundation Ministries offers guidance and prepares leaders for the healing of the world.

Demographics of San Diego State University

SDSU serves about 34,000 students and is adding a thousand students a year.  In 2007, 9,800 new students arrived on campus.  One in three is Hispanic.  Seven percent are Filipino.  SDSU’s top priority is to foster student retention.   SDSU educates many college students who are the first in their family to attend a university.  SDSU is a place of economic, class, cultural, and global transition.

Partnering with Wesley House Student Residence (WHSR)

Wesley Foundation Ministries plans to grow, building on its 75 year heritage by moving to a new facility, The WESLEY, with a 200-bed residence for low income students and a new campus ministry center to house Center Point, Meeting Point and Turning Point programs.

To help implement its vision, Wesley Foundation Ministries expanded its student housing program by starting Wesley House Student Residence, a public non-profit corporation.  Wesley House Student Residence is developer and builder of The Wesley and a partner providing programs to serve the campus.
